Many things make this photo amazing. The black and white is a nice aspect, but the best part is the focus and clarity. Individual veins of the once healthy leaf stand out against the blurry background, and every part of the leaf is in focus. The photographer also took an interesting point of view, getting on the same level as the object as opposed to looking down on it. The photo captures the beauty of decay in a really interesting way. There is a certain sadness to the photo and the death of the leaf, and at the same time an amazing wonder at the world in which we live.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo! I agree with how it stands out from the blurry background. I think the black and white compliments the spookiness of the leaf. The veins and pointy edges give it an eerie, skeletal look. Unique perspective, too.
ReplyDeleteI find it intriguing that the leaf is standing by itself, to me it gives a sense of personification and maybe even personality to the leave, even though it is a dead thing. It reminds me of Autumn, the way death can sometimes look so pretty.
